Rainbow Day and Terry Fox

We had a full, fun-filled day today at school! We learned all about Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope before heading outside to run around the school yard in his honour.

Next, we did a Terry Fox writing, colouring, cutting and gluing activity.

We had two Grade 5 boys come to visit us on behalf of Voix d'élève (Student Voice group) to ask us to help collect non-perishable food, soap, toilet paper, and diapers to donate to the Shamattawa community.  People there are struggling after a fire burned down their only grocery store.

We also had a rainbow relay race to practice our colours.  The kids had to run with a spoon to collect five colours of Skittles and balance them as they ran back as quickly as possible.  It was very difficult and very fun.  My favourite part was when the kids cheered for each other every time ("Go Callum and Kira!  Go Callum and Kira!!").  It warmed my heart.
