Pumpkin Patch

Our work on the pumpkin patch progressed on Friday.  We created the actual field where we will grow and tend to the pumpkins, complete with vines and leaves.  We began making and painting pumpkins and we also started work on our bails of hay.  The kids were very excited to see our classroom transform.

We also painted and glittered our little pumpkins.  We will add faces and bring them home for Halloween.

And...MORE PUMPKINS!!

Our pumpkin study continued today.  We did another day of pumpkin discovery bins and got our class pumpkins carved.  Design credit goes to Kira (AM), Alice, Nolan and Olivia (PM).

We helped to decorate Bannatyne's little free library, which will be
installed near the school's front door.

We finished a couple Halloween crafts.

We started planning our pumpkin patch dramatic play area!  Isn't this the cutest list you've ever seen?  We brainstormed about the people you'd meet at a pumpkin patch/corn maze/farm, the things you would see, and the things you could do there.  Tomorrow we will start building and collecting our props.

PUMPKINS, PUMPKINS, PUMPKINS!!

Yesterday we started our morning with bus ridership.  We learned all of the important rules that keep us safe when we ride the bus.  For some of us, it was our first time on a school bus!  We got to open the emergency exits, including the back door.  Mr. Bob helped us jump out the back!

We also started our pumpkin discovery bins.  Discovery bins are different than centres in that they tend to be more open-ended.
